I started the day in the most invigorating way possible- with a tumble down the stairs. I don’t recommend it as a way to wake yourself up if you aren’t a morning person, but it got the job done. I was going down stairs, and my socked feet slipped out from under me, and down I went. It was very scary actually, and I almost fainted afterwards, everything went all white and I had to put my head between my knees for a bit, but I’m ok. It woke me right up though.
My mom, sister, and I had planned a day of girly fun for today. We were going to go see Beauty and the Beast in 3D, and then get facials and pedicures, but Lillian wasn’t feeling well, so the movie turned into playing Bananagrams and having lunch at home. We made it to the spa though, and it was awesome. I’ve had two facials (counting today’s), and they’re pleasant, but also kind of painful. My skin has been way better since I’ve started using emu oil, but the facialist still found fault with it, and a lot of my treatment was spent being pinched and prodded with enough force to make my eyes tear. She also suggested that I might be allergic to the metal in my eyebrow ring, which could explain why it flares up so often. There was massaging, and nice smelling stuff rubbed on my face, but I came out of it looking almost worse than I had going in, even though it was supposed to be beautifying. I had an amazing spa shower, with steam, and nice products, and then got dressed and went downstairs for the pedicure part of the show. I have mixed feelings about facials, but not at all about pedicures. Pedicures are like fireworks, no matter how much there is there could always be more. I’ve always been a little self-conscious about my feet, but I spend a lot of time barefoot (it helps me not fall down stairs) love it when they look pretty. I sat in the comfy chair, and sipped lemony water, and read Wuthering Heights, and got a calf massage, and had my toe nails painted navy blue. It was 100% lovely.
In grad school news, my recommendation is in, and so I should be ok as far as Marquette. I have one day left before the GRE, and then I can focus on my last three applications. For now though, I’m blogging, and watching Grey’s Anatomy, and my toes are pretty, and things are good in my world.
